Each week we take a look at a marquee matchup in the dynasty league managed by the IDPDynasty.com writers. We use Matchup of the Week to highlight key players and provide sit/start advice
Another week down and the East division just keeps getting tighter. Saved by Le’Bell was beat for the second week in a row by Hostile Combover. In the loss, Le’Bell suffered their fifth season ending injury with Julian Edelman going in for foot surgery (L. Bell, A. Ogletree, H. Anderson, and D. Fowler the other four). The only other team with close to as many injuries is Take it Breezy (D. Levy, J. Nelson, K. Benjamin, S. Smith) but both teams are hanging tough. High score of the week goes to Team Santigate beating Can You Digglet? 239.5 to 214. Renegades of Punt pulled off the victory in the lowest scoring contest this week 173.5 to 158.3 over Team He Hate Me as Antonio Brown blew up for the Renegades and Peyton Manning did the opposite for He Hate Me. Finally, Team Mascia had the highest margin of victory destroying Team Jones 213.3 to 132.3 to stay atop the West division but the Renegades are making a strong push for first. Here’s the standings after 10 weeks.
1. Saved By Le’Bell 8-2 L2
2. Can You Digglet? 6-4 L1
3. Take It Breezy 5-5 L1
4. Hostile Combover 5-5 W2
5. Team Santigate 4-6 W1
1. Team Mascia 7-3 W1
2. Renegades of Punt 6-4 W4
3. Team He Hate Me 4-6 L1
4. Team Woodman 3-7 W1
5. Team jones 2-8 L7
This weeks matchups include the East’s 1v2 and 3v4 as well as the West’s 3v4. With both teams coming off loses Saved By Le’Bell vs Can You Digglet? win the title for Matchup of the Week in a very important East Division matchup. In their last matchup Saved By Le’Bell won 214.5 to 152.5.
Larry Fitzgerald has been outstanding this year for Can You Digglet? with only one dud against Baltimore, but this week will be his second. After a brilliant 10 catch 130 yard performance against the stout Seattle secondary it seems as if Larry is now matchup proof but this week will be different. Fitzgerald was able to avoid facing blanket Richard Sherman by lining up in the slot in Week 10 and garnering 15 targets. This week Fitzgerald is facing off against Cincinnati who are almost just as stout against the pass and Leon Hall has been dominant over slot receivers all year grading out at the #4 slot CB by Pro Football Focus. As a whole Cincinnati has just held DeAndre Hopkins to only 5 catches for 57 yards but Hopkins did get that ridiculous TD catch. They have also held elite WRs like Amari Cooper, Antonio Brown and Martavis Bryant all under 50 yards receiving and havent allowed over 6 catches to anyone since Week 4. It’s tough to sit someone after that great performance but I envision Fitzgerald struggling this week just like Hopkins did for the most part on MNF.
One player that is in for a huge week for Can You Digglet? is Johnathan Cyprien. Going against a team that has already given up five turnovers, two touchdowns and 1.5 sacks to safeties this year Cyprien should be licking his chops for this one. After missing weeks 2-3 Cyprien has been getting stronger as the season has progressed recording seven or more tackles in each of his last three games. With Kendall Wright and Justin Hunter both out this week Marcus Mariota will heavily rely on TE Delanie Walker as he is the only proven pass catcher left. This will leave Cyprien a lot of play making opportunities which will turn into a great fantasy output. Even though he comes in at #30 in scoring for safeties this season, consider Cyprien a DB1 this week and make sure he’s in your lineup.
For an easy transition, Delanie Walker is a must start this week for Saved By Le’Bell. Surpisingly, through the first 10 games this year Delanie Walker has graded out as the #2 TE by Pro Football Focus. After a sub par Week 10 where Walker caught only three balls for 52 yards he will look to get back on track in Week 11. Prior to last week Walker had four consecutive games with over six catches and this week will start a new trend. Last week against Jacksonville, Baltimore’s tight ends secured all 8 of their targets for 82 yards and two TDs. They were also burned earlier in the year by Gronkowski and Coby Fleener who combined for 13 catches 184 yards and a TD in weeks three and four. With Wright and Hunter both out this week Mariota’s other receivers will be Harry Douglas (17 catches this year), Dorial Beckham-Green (12 catches) and nobody else worth mentioning. Needless to say Walker will get a ton of targets this week and needs to be in your lineup even after a disappointing Week 10.
Philip Rivers has been quite dominant this year but he is a must sit this week for Saved By Le’Bell as he is facing a tough Kansas City Chiefs defense. After embarrassing Peyton Manning and the Broncos last week, the Chiefs now have 11 interceptions in their last four games. Only four other teams have more interceptions the whole season! I know Rivers is throwing it at a ridiculous rate (39 attempts per game) and is just behind Tom Brady for league lead in yards, but he now has lost top WRs Malcom Floyd and Keenan Allen to injuries. In addition, TEs Ladarius Green and Antonio Gates are listed as questionable this week. Rivers still is the #5 scoring QB this year and will be fresh coming out of the bye, but I envision the Chargers getting Melvin Gordon and the ground game more involved as there is not much left for Rivers to throw to other than Danny Woodhead. Leave Rivers on your bench so you aren’t crying like Justin Timberlake after this one.
Overall, you can’t go wrong with a 1v2 matchup with both teams fresh off a loss. Saved By Le’Bell will look to avoid losing three straight after winning his first eight. Can You Digglet? is looking to avoid his second two game losing streak of the year and get one game closer to the division lead. With the playoffs getting closer (Week 15) every game is more important and I actually see Digglet? pulling this one out. With great matchups for Blake Bortles, Devonta Freeman and Charcandrick West the offense will look to score a bunch a points in addition to his defense with six players in the top 10 in scoring at their position.
