Each week we take a look at a marquee matchup in the dynasty league managed by the IDPDynasty.com writers. We use Matchup of the Week to highlight key players and provide sit/start advice
We finally are down to only one undefeated team. In the matchup of undefeated’s in Week 6 Saved By Le’Bell cruised to a 58.5 point victory and is standing tall at 6-0. Team Mascia actually ended up with the lowest scoring total this week with 174.8 points. It has been a great road for Saved By Le’Bell, Team Woodman, who held on for a 204.5 to 203.8 point Week 6 win, will try to take him down this week. Led by Cameron Jordan and his 34.5 points, Team Santigate had the biggest week with 251.8 points. Here’s how the rest of the league stands.
1. Saved By Le’Bell 6-0 W6
2. Team Benovic 4-2 W4
3. Take It Breezy 3-3 W1
4. Team Santigate 3-3 W1
5. Hostile Combover 1-5 L1
1. Team Mascia 5-1 L1
2. Team Woodman 3-3 W1
3. Team jones 2-4 L3
4. Renegades of Punt 2-4 L4
5. Team He Hate Me 1-5 L1
Team Benovic has been on a roll after dropping his first two games and now has the second longest win streak at four games. Benovic will matchup with Team Mascia and try and give him his second loss in a row after winning his first five.
Devonta Freeman has been a revelation this year for Team Benovic. He has been the main reason or Benovic’s run averaging 33.38 points in the last four after only 8.75 the first two weeks. He also benefits from having Adrian Peterson and Arian Foster occupying the other running back spots. Benovis even has the disappointing Eddie Lacy (bye week) on the bench to round out his elite RB combination. It’s no wonder he is on a four game streak. Both Peterson and Foster are currently listed as questionable, but don’t fear, both are solid plays this week make sure they are in your lineup.
Martavis Bryant is back with a vengeance. He returns to must start status after his six catch 137 and 2 TD game. Already mentioned in Studs and Duds, Bryant is primed for another huge game against the league’s worst Kansas City pass defense against fantasy wide receivers. The only knock on Bryant is he is the “big play” or “TD specialist” kind of receiver. This is great news as the Chiefs have already given up 11 TDs to wide receivers. There’s no way Bryant can be on your bench as he could potentially be the #1 fantasy wide receiver this week.
Team Benovic has a tough call at safety this week as both his current starters are going against top 10 offenses in regards to points given up to fantasy safeties. After a dominant 14 tackle Week 4 performancene, Johnathan Cyprien has been a dud the past two with only nine tackles combined. It could be his prior calf injury nagging, but something is off with Cyprien and he should remain benched this week.
On Benovic’s bench is Calvin Pryor who I would consider starting over Cyprien. Brady and the Patriots obviously love throwing the ball and especially down the middle to Julian Edelman. New England has given up at double digit points to both safeties on every team so far this year and Pryor looked refreshed after the bye with seven tackles. Look for Pryor to match his season total of 10 tackles and don’t be afraid of starting the young safety this week.
Todd Gurley is getting his second start for Team Mascia this week and how could you not love his matchup against Cleveland who is giving up league high 147.8 yards rushing per game. The Browns have given up at least 90 yards to each #1 RB in all but one game this year and three were over 100. After back to back 140+ yard games the bye couldn’t have come at a better time for Gurley so you don’t have to worry about any knee soreness. He is clearly recovered from his knee injury and and is paying dividends for those who took a chance on him. Make sure he is in your lineup this week as he could be the #1 RB this week.
At the flex Mascia is using Joseph Randle who I think needs to be on the bench. After failing to impress through the first five weeks Randle is getting pushed out of the top RB spot. He has yet to rush for over 100 yards and that trend will continue this week. DeMarco Murray was the first running back to rush for over 100 against the Giants this season as they have been pretty stingy. In their first meeting this season Randle rushed for only 65 yards on 16 carries but did add three catches for 42 yards. Due to the emergence of Christine Michael there is no way Randle gets close to those 19 touches so make sure he is out of your lineup.
Eric Berry is another player that is hard to trust right now. Coming back from cancer to play in the NFL the next season is a huge feat and I respect Berry greatly for that. What I don’t respect is his lack of fantasy production. He has scored double digits only once this year and is currently the 41st ranked safety. I expect at least 30 combined points between my safeties and Berry just isn’t getting it done yet this year. Keep him on your bench until further notice.
Overall this is a really good matchup. Berry and Cyprien should cancel each other out. Both teams have stud linebackers as Masica owns NaVorro Bowman and Benovic has Lavonte David. I think it will come down to the running backs where Benovic has the edge. Sorry Mascia, nothing personal but I have to go with Benovic here in a close one.

Team Mascia 216
