Welcome to week 3’s edition of last minute starts, but first let’s take a look back at last week’s last minute starts.

Karlos Williams – 6 rush, 21 yards, 1 td, 2 rec, 16 yards

Donte Moncrief – 7 catches, 8 targets, 122 yards, 1 td

Gavin Escobar – 2 catches, 3 targets, 16 yards, fumble lost

Demarcus Lawrence – 3 tackles, 1 TFL

A.J. Klein – 2 solo, 2 ast, 1 int, 1 pd

So there were a couple misses here… Looking at you Escobar, but for the most part if you started any of those guys you were not disappointed.  Now on to this week.

Luke McCown QB New Orleans Saints

There is three backup QBs to choose from this week, i decided to go with one with the most active talent on his team.  Mccown has not started a game since 2011, but will have Brandin Cooks, Marques Colston, Mark Ingram, and CJ Spiller active.  The Cowboys and Bears are both missing their top receiving target.

Devin Smith WR New York Jets

The rookie WR is finally healthy enough to play, and the moment couldn’t be any better.  The Jets are going to be without starter Eric Decker and also without Chris Owusu.  Smith will be the primary deep threat, but i could see him getting some underneath targets.  He is also a great special teams gunner, so he could also pick up a tackle or two for you.

Stevie Johnson WR San Diego Chargers

The Chargers will be without their two starting TE’s Ladarius Green (concussion) and Antonio Gates (Susp). So i would expect Stevie Johnson to step up and be that safety valve for Rivers. Stevie has been targeted 12 times catching 11 of them for 127 yards, and two touchdowns.  I expect his targets to go up.

Jaye Howard DL Kansas City Chiefs

jaye howard

Howard is not an injury fill in, but is a guy who needs to be taken notice of.  Through two games in limited snaps on the D-line Howard has 9 solo tackles and 3 assists.  Doesnt seem like alot, but when you factor in that he plays behind all pro NT Dontari Poe, the numbers start looking pretty impressive.
