Home > Rankings > Week 3 Fantasy Rankings

Here’s my best take on trying to be the IDP version of Michael Fabiano. You may disagree with my rankings and that’s fine but let me tell you that I used a very complex algorithm to determine these carefully calculated rankings – my opinion. I tried to look at this week’s matchups with an eye on injuries, current team struggles, and opposition to put together my best guess at how Week 3 will shake out. This is simply a guide if you have a tough decision to make and you’re questioning who to start/sit.

With that being said, let’s roll the dice.

Ben Roethlisberger is one of the hottest QBs in the league right now and he’s getting Le’Veon Bell back. While you can argue Brady is too, I see the Pats going up early on Jacksonville at home and simply don’t need to throw it as often. I also think Mariota will bounce back this week against a depleted Colts secondary.

1. Ben Roethlisberger @ StL
2. Russell Wilson vs. Chi
3. Carson Palmer vs. SF
4. Matt Ryan vs. Dal
5. Tom Brady vs. Jax
6. Aaron Rodgers vs. KC
7. Andrew Luck @ Ten
8. Marcus Mariota vs. Ind
9. Cam Newton vs. NO
10. Ryan Tannehill vs. Buf
11. Derek Carr @ Cle
12. Colin Kaepernick @ Ari
13. Drew Brees @ Car
14. Nick Foles vs. Pit
15. Tyrod Taylor @ Mia

Beast Mode is going against a shadow of what we used to think of when talking about Chicago’s defense. Adrian Peterson has finally knocked the rust off and while he still had 3 fumbles last week, he doesn’t make the same mistakes at home against a young San Diego linebacking corps. To top out the top 3, Le’Veon Bell returns from suspension to post a strong line despite one of the best D Lines in the NFL.

1. Marshawn Lynch vs Chi
2. Adrian Peterson vs. SD
3. Carlos Hyde @ Ari
4. Le’Veon Bell @ STL
5. Dion Lewis vs. Jax
6. Latavius Murray @ Cle
7. Matt Jones @ NYG
8. Jamaal Charles @ GB
9. Chris Ivory vs Phi
10. Davonta Freeman @ Dal
11. Danny Woodhead @ Min
12. Shady McCoy @ Mia
13. Matt Forte @ Sea
14. David Johnson vs SF
15. Giovani Bernard @ Bal

You just can’t stop Antonio or Julio – who will be the top 2 WRs this week. My only surprise in the top 15 will be Rishard Mathews (MIA), with an opportunity to break out of his productive sleeper title in PPR leagues.

1. Antonio Brown @ Stl
2. Julio Jones @ Dal
3. Julian Edelman vs Jax
4. Emmanuel Sanders @ Det
5. DeAndre Hopkins vs TB
6. OBJ vs Was
7. Brandon Marshall vs Phi
8. Donte Moncrief @ Ten
9. Larry Fitzgerald vs SF
10. Randall Cobb vs KC
11. Denarius Thomas @ Det
12. Doug Baldwin vs Chi
13. Calvin Johnson vs Den
14. Rishard Mathews vs Buf
15. Keenan Allen @ Min

If King Kong couldn’t cover him, Jacksonville sure isn’t going to stop Gronk. TEs aren’t very sexy and there probably isn’t much you can do if you didn’t draft the right guy but Heath Miller has been one of Big Ben’s most reliable targets and surprisingly isn’t owned in enough Dynasty leagues as younger guys with higher upside.

1. Gronk vs Jax
2. Jordan Reed @ NYG
3. Heath Miller @ StL
4. Tyler Eifert @ Bal
5. Michael Bennett @ Sea
6. Jordan Cameron vs Buf
7. Jared Cook vs Pit
8. Darren Fells vs SF
9. Eric Ebron vs Den
10. Jason Witten vs Atl
11. Greg Olsen vs NO
12. Charles Clay @ Mia
13. Kyle Rudolph vs SD
14. Larry Donnell vs Was
15. Zach Ertz @ NYJ

The fantasy roster’s awkward cousin – your #3, 4, 5 RB/WR. Let’s take a look at the guys who didn’t quite crack the starting WR/RB/TE spot, but will still need to start for you and help you get that win.

1. Jarvis Landry vs Buf
2. James Jones vs KC
3. Ameer Abdullah vs Den
4. Allen Robinson @ NE
5. Travis Benjamin vs Oak
6. Jordan Mathews @ NYJ
7. John Brown vs SF
8. Terrance Williams vs Atl
9. Michael Crabtree @ Cle
10. Amari Cooper @ Cle
11. Ladarius Green @ Min
12. Tavon Austin vs Pit
13. Lance Dunbar vs Atl
14. Pierre Garcon @ NYG
15. Tyler Lockett vs Chi

When it comes to Linebackers, you’re most likely going to start the same guys almost every week. But in any case, here are my top 15 LBs this week.

1. Jamie Collins vs Jax
2. Jelani Jenkins vs Buf
3. Thomas Davis vs NO
4. Sean Lee vs Atl
5. Justin Houston @ GB

11. Brian Cushing vs TB
12. Haul’oli Kikaha @ Car
13. Alex Okafor vs SF
14. Clay Mathews vs KC
15. Ryan Shazier vs StL

A very much hit or miss position on a weekly basis, Aaron Donald continues his current tear and Ndamukong Suh finally shows up this Sunday for the Dolphins home opener.

1. Aaron Donald vs Pit
2. Jaye Howard @ GB
3. Gerald McCoy @ Hou
4. Dwan Edwards vs NO
5. Jonathan Hankins vs Was
6. Michael Brockers vs Pit
7. Marcel Dareus @ Mia
8. Tyrone Crawford vs Atl
9. Dan Williams @ Cle
10. Brandon Williams vs Cin
11. Ndamukong Suh vs Buf
12. Jurrell Casey vs Ind
13. Clinton McDonald @ Hou
14. Jonathan Babineaux @ Dal
15. Jordan Hill @ Chi

Like Gronk at TE, JJ Watt is a lock each and every week as the #1 DE. One of the bigger surprises this year is Colt’s rookie Henry Anderson who has been a monster. My 2nd lesser known guy rounding out the top 15 is journeyman Jacquies Smith who has 10.5 sacks over the past 11 games – pick him up before it’s too late!

1. JJ Watt vs TB
2. Henry Anderson @ Ten
3. Calais Campbell vs SF
4. Cameron Jordan @ Car
5. Brian Robinson vs SD
6. Cameron Heyward @ Stl
7. Ezekiel Ansah vs Den
8. Robert Quinn vs Phi
9. Chandler Jones vs Jax
10. Jacquies Smith @ Hou
11. Robert Ayers vs Was
12. Michael Bennett vs Chi
13. Chris Clemons @ NE
14. Cam Wake vs Buf
15. Justin Tuck @ Cle

This week’s top 15 includes a fusion of young talent and wily veterans. I’m happy to see Willy Mo (ATL) returning to Pro Bowl form. But I’ve got to give a shout to David Bruton and Jaquiski Tartt, 2 relatively unknowns who have been productive so far this season.

1. Eric Weddle @ Min
2. Calvin Pryor vs Phi
3. Brandon Meriweather vs Was
4. Reshad Jones vs Buf
5. Malcolm Jenkins @ NYJ
6. Tyrann Mathieu vs SF
7. Will Hill vs Cin
8. Chris Conte @ Hou
9. David Bruton @ Det
10. William Moore @ Dal
11. Barry Church vs Atl
12. Glover Quin vs Den
13. Will Allen @ Stl
14. Jaquiski Tartt @ Ari
15. Earl Thomas vs Chi

Lastly, CB – the biggest crapshoot when it comes to fantasy where it doesn’t always pay to be the best. KC rookie Marcus Peters has had an incredible two games, as with Josh Norman (CAR), so I had to keep them at the top of this week’s list.

1. Adam Jones @ Bal
2. Rashean Mathis vs Den
3. Marcus Peters @ GB
4. Josh Norman vs NO
5. Aqib Talib @ Det
6. Jimmy Smith vs Cin
7. Ronald Darby @ Mia
8. Xavier Rhodes vs SD
9. Malcolm Butler vs Jax
10. Deshawn Shead vs Chi
11. Brent Grimes vs Buf
12. Lemarcus Joyner vs Pit
13. Bene Benwikere vs NO
14. Chris Harris @ Det
15. Stephone Gilmore @ Mia
